What is Frolic?

Frolic Ice Cream is a modern ice cream brand that focuses on bringing high quality gourmet ice cream into peoples homes. With mediocre at-home ice cream options available in the current market, Frolic set out to create a machine that would provide consumers with a Michelin-star experience from the comfort of their homes.

 

How does the Frolic machine work?

Through research and innovation, the founders of Frolic realized that the key to the creamiest ice cream lies heavily in the ice crystal size - the smaller, the creamier! 

All grocery store ice creams are made the same way - mixed and packaged in huge quantities, frozen, and then shipped to grocery stores for sale. In order to ensure that the ice cream will last its trip from the factory it is frozen to super low temps to make it extra hard.   This is why when you open an ice cream carton, you’re welcomed with a sweet treat that’s hard, and even crumbly. While the texture may have been creamy and smooth upon making the ice cream, there’s simply no way to maintain that texture when it has to go through the industrial supply chain.  

The frolic machine uses a high-speed stainless steel blade that shaves and atomizes the ice crystals within our premade ice cream pods to achieve the smallest ice crystals to optimize texture and taste. As a result, Frolic’s ice cream features a 4-7 micrometer ice crystal size, nearly 10x less than traditional ice cream alternatives available in the grocery store.
